I remember the ads well & probably have at least 40 of them recorded inadvertantly in my tape collection of several thousand, starting in 1976! I remember in 1983 when “Gay Related Immune Dificiency” (or G.R.I.D.) changed names, literally overnight – & wondering immediately about the ‘diet candy commercials’ for Ayds & when they would eventually come to a halt. I also wondered why they didn’t just keep the product & simply rename it.
